Good Morning Quilters!
Today, we have four back to school quilting tutorials for your next project!
***If YOU like this post–PLEASE Pin to Pinterest!****** Thank YOU!
Can YOU believe it’s time to go back to school already! Where does the time go?!
Summer flew by–and when I returned from my trip to Italy (more on that soon!), I was shocked by the cool, fall weather nights in Minnesota!
While I LOVE autumn in Minnesota, I dread what it portends….
Back to School Quilting Tutorials for YOUR Next Project!
Today we have a few of my favorite quilting motifs:
The Perfect Pencil
What is THE perfect pencil?
My favorite has always been the #2 Dixon Ticonderoga.
This motif would look adorable on a pencil case! Or, add it to the border of a quilt.
I used this back to school quilting tutorial to create a quilt for a special teacher!

Shining Star Tutorial
Of course, we all want to get Stars on all of our papers…
Use the Shining Star Motif as a great back to school quilt pattern!
I used the stars as a background fill motif in my “Land that I Love” Quilt.
The Delicious Apple
And of course, we need an apple for our favorite teacher!
Handwriting
One of my favorite quilting motifs is handwriting! What better way to personalize your quilts than to add your own cursive handwriting!?
You can stitch songs, poems or leave notes of encouragement to your students. I often use handwriting in my quilts, like my “I’d Rather Be Fishing Quilt”.
Using Back to School Quilting Tutorials
How have YOU used the back to school motifs in your projects?
Have YOU used the motifs in a non-quilt project like a pencil case or market bag?
Do YOU ever add motifs to your clothing?
We’d LOVE to hear!

I’m planning on trying out the cursive writing designs. That is something I have always wanted to do! Thanks Lori for providing the tutorials for quilting on your website!

I have both your Free Motion books and save your emails, so thank you. Currently, my free-motion handwriting is developing – both in cursive and printing since I quilt many quilts for young children.

I have trouble doing designs without backtracking a lot. Your videos show me how to develop the patterns better. Thank you! Love your books, too!
