I LOVE TO DOODLE
As you know, I love to doodle…
No piece of paper is safe if I can find a pen…and no piece of fabric is safe either…
This idea came from a photo I saw on Pinterest…Read more HERE.
A QUILT SANDWICH — BEGGING FOR DOODLES
I created the quilt sandwich with a piece of hand dyed fabric that reminded me of a school “blackboard”.
Then, every time I had this Sulky Rayon thread on my machine…
I doodled for a few minutes before I started my bigger project.
TEST YOUR TENSION
This also served as my “tension test”. Â I like to check the tension on my sewing machine before I started quilting each day.

A TRUE DOODLE QUILT
Give it a try!

Lori, How do you stop and start each motif? Is it ok just to back over the first or last few threads? Don’t shoot me.

Oh my gosh. This is totally adorable! I am going to have to try this, this would make the cutest crib or stroller quilt for a baby!

I love to do this as well! It’s a great way to test new motifs and when it is filled up with stitches it becomes one of the charity lap quilts that our group of 4 friends donate to local seniors homes at Christmas. We donated 47 last year and hope to do even more this year.

Thank you for sharing! You inspire me to machine quilt, now I just need the time because I have the unquilted tops.
