A Fall Vase Quilt

Fall Vase Quilt, Free Motion Quilting

Fall Vase Quilt, Free Motion QuiltingIt’s a little bit cooler and the days are shorter, which means it’s time to bring out the Fall Quilt Collection…

This Vase Quilt–(I love small quilts to put on my tables underneath bowls and vases)–is one of my favorites.

It started with an orphan block that I made at a class several years ago.

Fall Vase Quilt, Free Motion QuiltingDo you recognize The String of Pearls from Tuesday’s free motion quilt tutorial?

Fall Vase Quilt, Free Motion QuiltingHere it is combined with a variation of The Welsh Leaf in a very effective border.

Fall Vase Quilt, Free Motion QuiltingI bet YOU have an orphan block or two?!

Just add a bowl of apples and your house will be ready for fall!

Happy Stitching,

Lori

Lori, I would love it if you could do a tutorial on your border (Welsh Leaf) on this quilt……..I just love it. Thank you for all you do for us.

  • Love the border design, Lori!

    Lori-
    Lovely.
The thread really enhances the design.
What weight and kind of thread did you use?
The Fall colors in Stillwater would be an inspiration!

What a great idea, having some small quilts for your tables! I have a dining room table that has a green cloth on it, which is kind of boring, but having some different small table toppers for different seasons is a really good idea. Thanks for posting this! Now I need to get looking at my stash and start something for Fall.

  • Lori – I love the quilting in the outer border! What a beautiful fall decoration. I love how you have inspired us to use our orphan blocks!

The quilted borders in this are just gorgeous. I love the look of the oak branches with acorns. It’s beautifully done and a perfect choice for both the fall theme of the piece and the colors in the quilt.
